For a candidate applying for a scholarship for his or her freshman year, official transcript(s) from all secondary institutions attended. For a candidate applying for a scholarship for his or her sophomore, junior or senior year, official transcript(s) from all post-secondary institutions attended. Sophomores should include official transcripts from both college and high school.

All material must be received no later than the date specified on the scholarship application. Candidates are responsible to ensure that all materials arrive by that date. The deadline to apply for a scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year is March 4, 2013.
2. Who will choose the scholarship recipients?
A selection committee will evaluate carefully all applications and choose the scholarship recipents. The trustees of the fund will appoint the members of the selection committee. The individuals appointed to the selection committee are totally independent of Landstar System, Inc. and its subsidiaries (collectively, Landstar) as well as the business capacity owners (BCOs), sales agents and qualification center owners currently under contract with Landstar.
3. How many scholarships will be awarded and what is the dollar amount of the scholarship?
The total number of scholarships awarded in any year cannot exceed 25% of the total number of applications received. The number of scholarships to be awarded will be determined following the scholarship application deadline date. Award amounts have typically been either $2,500 or $5,000 scholarships for the upcoming year. Awards are announced at Landstar's Annual Convention in the Spring.

Scholarships are also available to children of business capacity owners, sales agents or qualification center owners, their respective employees and full-time Landstar employees who died while under contract with or employed by Landstar, as applicable.

5. What are the eligibility requirements?
Candidates currently enrolled in high school must be planning to enroll full-time (12 credit hours per semester) at an accredited two- or four-year college or university during the academic year for which the scholarship may be granted. Candidates already in a two- or four-year college or university must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 credit hours, and be planning to re-enroll for at least 12 credit hours during the academic year for which the scholarship may be granted. All candidates must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
6. What are the criteria to be used in choosing scholarship recipients?
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence, community service and extracurricular activities at the discretion of the members of the Selection Committee.
7. Are contributions to the Fund tax deductible?
Yes! The Fund obtained an IRS ruling on July 31 1995 that contributions are tax deductible. Should you wish to make a contribution to this valuable fund, please make check payable to the: Landstar Scholarship Fund and mail to:
